Life continues…

Hello. Apologies for the paucity of posts of late. I’m working steadily on my new novel – approaching 60,000 words now. I’ve also been working on songs for the band, doing the day job, reading, cooking dinner and helping kids with homework – all that stuff.

Not much else to say really!

Rest assured you’ll be the first to know if something exciting happens.

“Novel” writing month

According to WordPress it’s “Novel Writing month”. Yay, write! “NaNoWriMo challenges you to write throughout November, piecing together a narrative until, voila! You’ve got a 175-page, 50,000-word novel on your hands.”

They even provide a simple formula which includes things such as “Every day, take a minute to sit down and write a story” and “Print business cards with your new title: Great American (or Indonesian or Argentinian or…) Novelist”

Holy shit.

I felt compelled to point out that 50,000 words is HALF a novel. I mean, it’s great to encourage people to write and all that, but at least be realistic about it. The only advantage to this is that people will realise how bloody hard it is to write a story that’s coherent and gripping over 100,000+ words.
